On September 6th, the worldwide editors of Harper’s BAZAAR and Global Fashion Director Carine Roitfeld kicked off New York Fashion Week with the sixth annual ICONS celebration at the Plaza in NYC. The star-studded, black-tie evening culminated with a powerhouse performance by a true legend, ICON Alicia Keys. Cartier was the exclusive Maison partner for this year’s event.

This September, in celebration of Lafayette 148’s arrival to Madison Avenue and the launch of the brand’s custom article on—which featured multi-hyphenate New Yorker Lydia Fenet styled in the brand’s New York–themed fall collection—BAZAAR’s Avril Graham and Fenet co-hosted a brunch on the rooftop of The Surrey Hotel. Millstone Flowers created a dream tablescape overlooking the city skyline. Following the brunch, guests shopped the brand’s fall collection in a Penthouse Pop-Up.

Le Vian's 2020 Gems

It was a night to remember in Las Vegas, when the style set stepped out to celebrate Le Vian’s 2020 Red Carpet Revue, revealing the chicest trends in jewelry and fashion and celebrating major milestones for Le Vian. The event, hosted at The Venetian Hotel, marked Le Vian’s 20th annual trend forecast and the 20th anniversary of Chocolate Diamonds®—Le Vian’s exquisite diamond designs renowned for their rare and rich chocolate hues. 

The evening also honored significant anniversaries for Le Vian. Guests viewed a video chronicling the LeVian family history, including the never-before-shared family tree dating back to the 18th century, the famed founding of the American division of Le Vian by A. LeVian, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of his passing. Additionally, the video underscored the importance of funding children’s charities for the LeVian family, which has been personally touched by childhood diseases and cancer. Today, Le Vian donates 10 percent of the brand’s profits to children’s charities.

Le Vian’s 2020 Red Carpet Revue benefited Jewelers for Children charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as the Rafa Foundation, founded by Le Vian CEO Eddie LeVian’s nephew Rafael Etessami, who lost his battle with cancer one year ago. Upon viewing this heartfelt video tribute, the overflowing crowd donated generously, raising nearly half a million dollars at the event.

Perfect Day for a Drive

On August 15, Harper’s BAZAAR partnered with Alfa Romeo—along with Esquire and Road & Track—for an afternoon of shopping, driving, and dining in picturesque Carmel Valley, California. Hosted at Folktale Winery & Vineyards during Monterey Car Week (known for the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance), the event featured a literal “trunk” show, where guests shopped a curated selection of ShopBAZAAR fashion, accessories, and beauty from the trunk of a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. 

ShopBAZAAR Senior Fashion Editor & Brand Manager Jessica Rawls guided guests in hand-selecting featured brands including Gigi Burris, Bembien, Lele Sadoughi, Lake Pajamas, Mounser, and Cos Bar. Anh Sundstrom, Insta influencer behind @9to5chic, was also in attendance, amping up the afternoon’s style quotient. 

Between shopping sessions, event attendees enjoyed driving an Alfa Romeo along the famed roads of Carmel and Monterey, and speaking with Road & Track Editor-in-Chief Travis Okulski about the latest Alfa Romeo models. And, because fuel is everything, Esquire treated guests to personal pizzas handmade by famed chef Daniele Uditi of L.A. restaurant Pizzana.

Dress Powerfully, Think Positively

On Thursday, June 20, Harper’s BAZAAR, Farfetch, and The Jane Club joined forces for a panel conversation covering numerous fashion-related subjects such as ageless dressing, sustainability, maximizing your wardrobe, and efficiency of time. Panelists included actress and The Jane Club Co-Founder June Diane Raphael, Grace & Frankie Costume Designer Allyson Fanger, BAZAAR Digital Features Director Olivia Fleming, and Farfetch VP Brand Marketing Alvina Patel, with moderator Lizzy Mathis, founder of The Cool Mom Co.

The evening aligned with Positively Farfetch, the company’s mission to become a global platform for good in luxury fashion—empowering consumers to think, act, and choose positively by highlighting brands and products that consider the impacts on the environment, society, and animal welfare.

Fashion for a Cause

The seventh annual Lincoln Center Women’s Leadership Council Spring Fashion luncheon was hosted at The Pierre, with fashion sponsor Escada, on April 5. The program included spring fashion and beauty trend presentations by Editor in Chief Glenda Bailey and Beauty Director Jessica Matlin and a Q&A with Digital Executive Director Joyann King and model, actress, and businesswoman Christie Brinkley. The Women’s Leadership Council is a group of passionate and involved business leaders and philanthropists who share a common goal of raising unrestricted dollars for the eight performing arts organizations and two educational institutions at Lincoln Center.
